Outside In – An Ongoing Community Project

In a world where mental health issues are on the rise, it has become increasingly important to explore innovative approaches to support individuals in their journey towards well-being. Cudox, a leading therapy and counselling service, has embarked on an exciting pilot project in partnership with Fund Active Humber, Sports England and The National Lottery. The goal is to create a comprehensive program that combines facilitated therapeutic group sessions with invigorating yoga classes. This unique initiative aims to bridge the gap between the mind and body, fostering connections among participants and reducing isolation.

The Power of Group Therapy:
At the heart of this project lies the power of group therapy. By bringing together individuals who have personal experiences with mental ill health, Cudox aims to facilitate powerful moments of connection and support. These therapeutic group sessions create an environment where people can explore their emotions and feelings, complementing the physical exercise component. Through shared experiences and mutual support, participants can develop sustainable relationships that reduce their reliance on NHS services, thus alleviating the strain on public resources.

The Mental Health Benefits of Physical Activity:
While the impact of physical activity on mental health is often overlooked, its potential for positive change cannot be understated. With anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions affecting countless individuals worldwide, the inclusion of exercise in mental health interventions is crucial. Scientifically proven to boost mood, exercise can significantly decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety. Physical activity stimulates the production of endorphins, the brain’s “feel-good” chemicals, which induce feelings of happiness and euphoria. Even moderate exercise throughout the week can contribute to the improvement of mental well-being.
