Grimsby, UK – Cudox Wellbeing CIC is excited to announce the launch of a new, place-based mental health support programme specifically designed for parents and parents-to-be in Grimsby and surrounding areas. This initiative is funded by North East Lincolnshire Family Hubs Small Grants and aims to provide easily accessible group therapy and educational support, ensuring that families receive the help they need at the earliest possible opportunity.
In an effort to address the unique challenges faced by families in deprived areas, Cudox is committed to reducing inequalities in health outcomes and improving the overall well-being of parents and their children. The programme is open to all, including fathers, co-parents, and those experiencing existing mental ill-health, as well as individuals who have faced previous baby loss or challenging decisions regarding pregnancy.
A Safe, Compassionate Space for All Families
Cudox believes that every family deserves access to the information and tools needed to care for and positively interact with their babies and children while also maintaining their own well-being. The 8-week rolling programme, offered four times over the course of a year, combines group therapy with educational sessions designed to help participants understand how past experiences can impact their relationships and parenting styles.
“We understand that the journey to parenthood can be filled with both joy and challenges,” said Angie Graham, Managing Director at Cudox. “Our goal is to provide a safe, stigma-free environment where parents can openly discuss their feelings and experiences, gain valuable insights, and receive the support they need to thrive as individuals and as a family.”
Breaking the Cycle of Trauma and Promoting Healing
The programme places a strong emphasis on exploring how parents’ own attachment patterns from childhood can unconsciously influence their children’s experiences. By raising awareness of how unhealed trauma can affect mental health and parenting, Cudox aims to break the cycle of suffering that can be passed down through generations.
The comprehensive therapeutic support provided through this programme is tailored to the unique needs of each participant. This includes offering one-to-one therapy for parents, couples, and families who require additional support. Unlike symptom-specific approaches, Cudox employs a person-centred, non-prescriptive therapy model that encourages self-exploration and gentle healing.
Fostering Stronger Family Bonds
The programme also addresses common issues such as anxiety, depression, and relationship stress that often accompany the perinatal period. By helping individuals and couples navigate the challenges of pregnancy, childbirth, and the transition into parenthood, Cudox is dedicated to fostering healthier, stronger family bonds.
“Taking care of your mental health is the first and most important step in being able to care for others,” Angie added. “Our programme is built on the principle that by nurturing parents’ well-being, we create a solid foundation for a healthier and more positive family life.”
