About Marie Fitzgerald

I have over 13 years of experience in supporting people, their unpaid carers, their families and children with special educational needs and disabilities. Also includes young carers.

My previous education is BA and MA in English Studies.
I am a member of the Research Community for the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute.

My feedback assisted in the development of a Debt Respite Scheme – a mental health crisis breathing space for people receiving mental health crisis treatment.

I am currently a third year student mental health nurse at the University of Hull. I am also an unpaid carer for my partner, my daughter and my father.

Previous to this, I was the Chairperson for the Carers Strategy, the Parent Carer Forum, the Carers Forum and a NAViGO elected community representative – all in North East Lincolnshire for many years.
I am also a proof reader to many – assisting specialist projects along the way.
