About Neil Cartwright

A psychotherapist in training for two years, I primarily use a Transactional Analysis (TA) approach in my work with clients and bringing in other complimentary therapeutic approaches like mindfulness, where appropriate.

TA is a psychotherapy method where social interactions are analysed to understand a client’s behaviour via their ‘ego state’: Parent, Adult or Child. In therapy, TA helps clients identify and alter these states to address problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, fostering healthier interpersonal relations.

A focus on mindfulness allows us to stay present in the current moment, rather than dwelling on future scenarios that can trigger anxiety, or remaining caught in past events which can prevent progress.

In my full-time position, I am employed by NHS England, where I am a part of the ‘Greener’ NHS team serving the North East and Yorkshire region focused on improving the environmental sustainability of the NHS.

Being a part of the remarkable team at Cudox, I have the privilege of providing therapeutic support to adults in our community who may be experiencing difficulties.
